The author was able to come up with an exciting plot line with a lot of different events occurring throughout the story. However, the book was rather dull at times with the author focusing too much on events that nobody cared about such as patterns of American culture in the s.

Brinkley often uses bland language and is completely unclear when explaining historiography. He writes a page textbook, yet often makes generalizations and fails to capture the big picture of historical events. You will find much better luck on google search engine than in this textbook.
